Members of Chambers
Stephanie joined Chambers as a pupil in October 2018.
Prior to commencing pupillage, Stephanie spent just over 9 months working at The Royal Borough of Greenwich providing administrative support in Child Protection Conferences and Legal Planning Meetings. During her time at Greenwich, she was exposed to a range of child protection issues, including physical, emotional and sexual abuse and neglect, which provided an insight into care proceedings. Through this work, Stephanie gained awareness of child protection issues from a Local Authority’s standpoint as well as an appreciation of the issues faced by parents.
Stephanie also assisted Mr Zimran Samuel as a legal researcher on a voluntary basis. In that capacity, she undertook research on Female Genital Mutilation and gained knowledge of the legal framework in this area as well as the challenges this practice presents to child protection. Whilst the nature of this work was very sensitive, the experience developed her passion of addressing complex cultural issues that arise in child protection.
Stephanie has also worked as a paralegal at Mishcon de Reya and Herbert Smith Freehills in which she gained experience of contentious and non-contentious residential and commercial landlord and tenant matters. Her specialist LLM puts her in good stead to deal with matrimonial finance involving property, companies and complex jurisdictional issues, which she is keen to pursue in practice.
