Practice Profile:

Vanessa joined Chambers as a pupil in June 2017. She will undertake a one month non practising pupillage followed by three months practising. Vanessa will be on her feet from 31st July and able to take instructions.

Vanessa has over 10 years experience in family law. She qualified as a solicitor in 2010 and has practiced at two local firms in East Kent until completing her transfer to the Bar. Vanessa’s experience in children law was recognised by the Law Society in accrediting her as a Child panel member in June 2013. Vanessa was shortlisted by the Kent Law Society in the Junior lawyer of the year category in 2014.

During her time as a solicitor, Vanessa focused her practice almost exclusively on children law including care, adoption and child arrangement orders. She has represented parents, family members and children on a wide range of issues varying from neglect, emotional abuse and parental alienation to non-accidental injury, sexual abuse and substance misusing parents. Vanessa has experience as a solicitor in protracted children cases concerning where a child should live and who they should spend time with.

Vanessa has a particular interest in assisting vulnerable clients, either as a result of domestic violence, their own childhood abuse or learning difficulties/disabilities.

Hobbies and other interests

Outside of Chambers Vanessa enjoys reading, the theatre and music. Vanessa spends the majority of her time with her friends and family and researching her next travel adventure.
